Iowa Voting Machines
Iowa uses paper ballots but they are counted by optical scanners at the polls. These were purchased after the Help America Vote Act which followed the mess in Florida in 2000. Before that Iowa had used both touch screens and lever machines in various counties. One county was even still counting entirely by hand in 2000. They were happy with that system, but they abandoned it nonetheless.
