About The Blog

This site will report on Iowa voting. We will seek open and transparent elections by reporting and editorializing.

Open elections occur when roadblocks to voting are removed and when all candidates have equal opportunity to reach the voters.

Transparent elections occur when there is no doubt that the results reflect the will of the electorate, and when the losers agree that they have lost an honest election, fairly conducted and openly administered in a way that a high school graduate can comprehend.

The first goal: elections that are auditable at every juncture. This will require the elimination of systems that do not offer a voter verifiable paper ballot as part of the process and will require systematic comparisons of the voters’ paper ballots with any machine count of the ballots.

To quote Spencer Tracy in that 1948 movie, “I paid for this microphone.”

So did I. I paid for this blog. It costs less than I expected.
